Ginger Lily Essential Oil: A New Addition

Welcome to this edition of our newsletter where we explore a new addition just arrived, Ginger Lily essential oil (Hydicum Spicatum). Also known as Spiked Ginger Lily, Himalayan Ginger Lily, Butterfly Ginger and Kachur Sugandhi, this tropical plant has stunning white flowers which have a spicy and sweet fragrance. The essential oil itself is derived from its rhizomes which are the underground stems of the plant. This gives a very “earthy and rooty” aroma which means it won’t be loved by one and all however if you are a fan of Ginger Essential Oil and are fine with the earthiness of this then you will appreciate what this oil has to offer.

Ginger Lily History and Uses

Ginger Lily is native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, and the Andaman Islands. It thrives in these humid and warm climates.

In many of its native regions, Ginger Lily has been celebrated for both its beauty and its uses. The plant’s striking white flowers are often used in traditional ceremonies and as ornamental plants in gardens. In Ayurvedic medicine, the ginger lily's roots have been employed for their therapeutic properties. They are believed to possess anti-inflammatory, digestive, and antimicrobial properties.

Ginger Lily Essential Oil has gained popularity in aromatherapy for its uplifting and calming effects. Its unique fragrance, warm, spicy, earthy and very slightly sweet makes it an interesting essential oil to use in blends.
