Hydrosols are the natural distillates produced from fresh plant material during the steam distillation process of essential oils. They contain the plant’s water soluble compounds and micro particles of essential oil, giving them soothing, cooling, and lightly aromatic properties. Hydrosols are superb facial toners and skin refreshers, helping to calm irritation, hydrate, and restore balance.
Flower Waters, by contrast, are made by combining pure essential oils with water and solubiliser to create a fragrant mist that captures the aroma of the plant without undergoing distillation. These are ideal for use as skin and body refreshers, natural room sprays or linen mists.
