Douglas Fir
Reintroduced

After many years away from our range, Douglas Fir has returned! Some of you may have noticed that we’ve recently reintroduced Douglas Fir Essential Oil, a forest oil that works with clarity and restraint rather than intensity. It’s not loud or overpowering, but once you experience it, its intelligence becomes immediately apparent.

Rooted in Endurance

Douglas Fir has long been associated with endurance and renewal. Evergreen forests were traditionally seen as symbols of resilience, conserving energy through winter and responding to stress with steadiness rather than force. That same quality carries through in Douglas Fir essential oil. It doesn’t try to overpower the system. Instead, it supports balance by removing interference.

How Douglas Fir Works in Aromatherapy

Douglas Fir doesn’t sedate the mind or overstimulate it. Instead, it supports clarity by clearing mental congestion. It’s particularly useful when fatigue comes from overload rather than anxiety, so think; too much information, too many decisions, too much mental noise. Douglas Fir creates space, allowing focus and presence to return naturally.

Subtle, Directional Support

Emotionally, this balance allows Douglas Fir to support gentle shifts rather than dramatic changes. It’s often chosen during periods of stagnation or flatness, when things feel heavy but not intense. On a physical level, Douglas Fir offers mild purifying and cleansing actions, making it a useful addition to skincare blends for congested, environmentally stressed, or dull skin.

An Architect in Blends

In blends, Douglas Fir behaves like good architecture. It opens space, adds structure, and allows other oils to perform better. It pairs beautifully with citrus oils such as grapefruit and orange to create a fresher, more open aroma, or with resinous oils like cistus to soften depth and prevent blends from feeling heavy.

We’ve reintroduced Douglas Fir because it offers something genuinely rare in aromatherapy - balance, restraint, and intelligence. Once you experience it, it tends to earn a permanent place on the shelf!
