Vetiver Essential Oil, steam distilled from the roots of Vetiveria zizanoides, is often called the “oil of tranquility” for its deeply calming and centring nature. Native to India but now widely cultivated in Haiti, vetiver has been revered for centuries in Ayurvedic and traditional medicine for its cooling, restorative, and stabilising qualities.
Rich, smoky, and complex, its scent anchors emotions and soothes the nervous system, making it an ideal oil for grounding meditation, easing stress, and supporting restful sleep. Physically, vetiver is known to help balance oily or inflamed skin, calm irritation, and assist with muscular recovery. Its strong base note also lends longevity and warmth to natural perfumery, where it remains one of the most enduring fixatives used globally.
Historically, dried vetiver roots were woven into mats, fans, and bedding for their cooling and aromatic properties. Even today, its oil is used in around 90% of fine fragrances and colognes, attesting to its timeless appeal and versatility in both wellness and perfumery.
