Abyssinian Seed Oil: A Powerhouse Oil

Not only does Abyssinian Seed Oil offer impressive skincare and haircare benefits, the unique characteristics of this carrier mean it has a high resistance to oxidisation and lasts substantially longer than a lot of other carrier oils.

Abyssinian Seed Oil (Organic/Refined) is a slightly harder to source carrier oil but one that offers a range of benefits which is why we decided to add it to our carrier oil selection.  Abyssinian Seed Oil is a natural oil extracted from the seeds of the Crambe abyssinica plant.  Originating from Abyssinia, the highlands area in Ethiopia, and also known as Crambe Seed Oil, it possesses unique properties for both haircare and skincare.

Abyssinian Seed Oil is loved for its chemical structure, which closely resembles the oil naturally produced by our skin.  This similarity allows the oil to absorb and spread quickly, providing hydration without leaving a heavy or greasy residue. Additionally, Abyssinian Oil is considered “non-comedogenic”, meaning it won't clog pores, making it suitable for all skin types.

Abyssinian Seed Oil for Skincare and Haircare

Abyssinian Seed Oil chemical composition boasts numerous benefits namely it is packed with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids which are known to improve skin texture, reduce inflammation and provide hydration.

It also boasts vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, and E—all of which help protect the skin from environmental aggressors.

A powerhouse for skincare, its exceptional hydrating properties leave the skin soft without a greasy or sticky feeling.  Enriched with antioxidants and high levels of vitamin A, Abyssinian Oil is highly valued for cosmetic use to assist with anti-aging and may aid in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.  Also used to help stimulate collagen production and support skin cell regeneration, furthermore the anti-inflammatory properties of Abyssinian Seed Oil, along with its non-comedogenic nature, make it suitable for the majority of skin types.

In regards to haircare, like Argan Oil, Abyssinian Oil is rich in fatty acids but has an even higher content as well as being lighter than Argan Oil.  Its long-chain fatty acids create a protective layer on the hair, guarding against humidity and frizz.  This protective coating makes Abyssinian Oil an excellent heat protectant when using styling tools.  Moreover, Abyssinian Oil is an ideal natural alternative to silicone-based hair products.  Unlike synthetic silicones, it doesn't cause buildup on the hair, resulting in frizz. Its vitamin and omega content nourish and hydrate the hair, reducing breakage and promoting healthy hair growth.  Additionally, Abyssinian Oil's high concentration of erucic acid provides anti-fungal properties, helping to eliminate itchy scalp and dandruff.

Not only does Abyssinian Seed Oil offer impressive skincare and haircare benefits, the unique characteristics of this carrier mean it has a high resistance to oxidisation and lasts substantially longer than a lot of other carrier oils.
